1.Stream bank erosion represents a major source of sediment to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) lagoon. This paper combines the findings from a number of studies to improve our understanding of stream erosion processes, prediction and modelling.
2.Reviewed current stream bank modelling approaches and assessed alternatives
3.Reach scale stream bank modelling is very complex and to improve our capacity to predict areas of high stream bank erosion risk we need an agreed approach for river classification within the Great Barrier Reef catchment
4.Significant investments are currently being made in the area of stream bank erosion management. We need to ensure we have the planning processes in place to identify and prioritise areas for riparian restoration.
