Through a series of unconventional river adventures, Dr Beau Miles films himself descending the unhealthiest, most at-risk waterways in Australia. Guided by compelling acts of history that have made each river a particular kind of bad, Beau sets out in a bid to better understand why humans kill the very thing that gives us life.
Three of the four Bad River episodes will be shot, although not completed, when presented at ASM. A dozen or more vignettes will be shown, and then talked about, giving background onto the context of the river, lived experience anecdotes, and unseen stories that stemmed from the expeditions. Beau is attending the conference because his wife Helen made him (she has far more street cred that he does in terms of the stream-management space, MD of EnviroDNA) thus Beau coming along to 1) look after their two-year-old and 2) see if his antics might tickle to fancy of a science based, esteemed, elbow-patched audience. Beau is a writer and YouTuber when he is not being a dad, runner, or maker of things.
