Beau Miles
Beau was profoundly impacted by paddling his boyhood river to the sea, a river which is now a straightened canal full of blackberries, dead animals, pipes and car bodies. Knowing that in some way he is part of the problem, it is important for Beau that he experiences- immersive at times, what is real and confronting. Exploring the ‘bad’ allows for reflection on personal change, and where hopes lie; this is a key narrative point of the film.
A co-creator, writer, director, key protagonist and curious human who will drive a story of personal adventure and growth through remarkable landscapes and a shockingly declining environment. Bad River: Adventure on Australia’s Sickest Water is a 4 part documentary series (20min each) and in this project Beau will take viewers down some of the most devastated rivers and waterways in Australia and showcase the ecological impact of modern society. Showcases the unhealthiest, most at-risk waterways in Australia. Guided by compelling narratives of others who have lived from, explored, and abused the rivers, including an informed set of 1788 blueprints representing Australia before colonisation, Beau sets out in a bid to better understand why humans kill the very thing that gives us life.
